This out of production, made in Japan 13”x6.5” Yamaha Musashi Oak snare drum is a perfect main or alt snare for everything from Jazz to Metal and everything in between. The tuning range is very wide and using a single or double ply head a drummer can achieve a fat, flat “fap” or a poppy “pop”. I’ve heard some drummers call Oak a “loud” and “aggressive” tonewood but I have to tell you that the volume is controlled by the drummer, not the drum. This drum has plenty of warmth and depth for days. I’ve compared this 13”x6.5” Yamaha Musashi against a 13”x6.5” Yamaha Sensitive Series Snare, and the Yamaha Steve Jordan Signature Snare (also 13”x6.5”) and the tone produced by this drum is deeper than both with great attack.
