Now is your chance to own one of the most coveted drums of all time.
Birch wood has a low fundamental tone and a short sustain. Before the Yamaha Recording Series got its name, “Recording Series”, they were known as the 9000 Series. The reason the 9000 Series became the Recording Series is because artists would ask Yamaha ”give me those recording drums”, which is because drummers and engineers loved how the short sustain of the Hokkaido birch loved the microphones of the day. It made it very easy to record and thus the name stuck.
This 14”x10” Yamaha Recording RA possess the elusive thin shells and stained, round edges that made them the favorite of Dr. Steve Gadd who has inspired so many drummers.
This 14”x10” Yamaha Recording RA was made in Japan by the skilled craftsmen and craftswomen of the Sakae Rhythm Company which manufactured all Yamaha drums for 30 years prior to 2013 when Yamaha moved their entire production capabilities to China. As most experienced drummers will tell you, this has a profound impact on the drums’ residual value.
These drums haves aged impeccably and will retain their value for years to come.
